COVID 19 Fraud Alert

Protect against fraud

We are currently experiencing extraordinary times resulting in a period of social isolation and we need your help protecting our communities against fraud and other crime.

It is clear that criminals are taking advantage of the coronavirus outbreak to exploit the public and commit fraud. Examples of those frauds include;

  1. Paying for items such as face masks which don't exist or are faulty.
  1. Being encouraged to click on fake Gov.UK websites.
  1. Texts and emails asking people to donate to charities which are fake.

Leicestershire Police and Action Fraud are working hard together to minimise opportunities for fraudsters, but we also need your help to ensure that you, your family and friends remain safe.

The government has issued advice to help prevent these scams and we would encourage you to follow this advice and protect yourself.

Stop

Taking a moment to stop and think before parting with your money or information could keep you safe.

Challenge

Could it be fake? It's ok to reject, refuse or ignore any requests. Only criminals will try to rush or panic you.

Protect

Contact your bank immediately if you think you've fallen for a scam and report it to Action Fraud.

Reporting fraud is important. If you think you've been a victim of fraud report this to Action Fraud:
